Well, it has been a while since the last update. I ran out of things to say! :) Now we are getting ready for the holidays, trying to make it to all the holiday parties, gathering decorations to make our apartment look "festive" and having the famous "couple discussion" about where we are going to spend the holidays.
So far we have attended two fabulous holiday parties! The White Chocolate Godiva Martini's at Andrea and Tom's were amazing! The dancing and mingling that went on at Laura and Corey's was a blast as well. Thanks for inviting us! Next we will travel to Naperville on Saturday night to attend a party at Allison and the Wood's house. We are looking forwad to that. Then we will come back into the city to have our car valet parked at Jason and Amy's house for their holiday festivities.
We have a little 4 1/2 foot tree that is decorated with many ornaments. I promise there is a tree under those ornaments. We have a new addition to the decorations, Mr. and Mrs. Reindeer. We bought them at Home Depot, where everyone gets their holiday decorations. :)
Finally the last decision to make is where to spend the holidays. I'm sure this is a conversation that enters every married couple's lives. However, we are very grateful that our families live about 40 miles away from each other so we will be spending time with both. Christmas Eve and early morning we will be at my parent's house and late Christmas morning and all day we will be at Matt and Jessica's house. We wish all couples the best of luck with that decision making process. :)
Enjoy the holidays!

Just Stormin' Along!
Greetings from the Styczen household! All is well over here...we are surviving the continuous storms. Tonight we have sister/sister-in-law, Kris, over to stay with us because her condo has no power. Be prepared to take shelter again tonight!
School starts on Monday, if our power returns at school. Unfortunately that means no more homemeade lunches for Nick. He's a little sad about that. However, I'm sure he'll take over and make his own lunches. Nick is currently fulfilling his husband-duties and fixing our wireless router so we can email again from home.
We'll report back soon!

Honeymoon
Our trip was fantastic from visiting the swim-up bar to golfing up in the mountains. We would wake up daily and have breakfast down by the beach...chiliquiles was a favorite of Nick's. After that, we would stake out our place by the pool and lather up with suntan lotion. Shortly after leaning back on our chairs to begin sunning, we would find ourselves jumping in the pool to get relief from the heat and humidity. After several trips to the swim-up bar, we would have lunch in the same location as breakfast. It was nachos and quesadillas for lunch with an occasional salad to balance out the nutritious meals.
As for golf, Nick was a trooper and completed 2 rounds of golf in 100ยบ heat with 100% humidity. I, however, promoted myself to official photographer to capture the beautiful flowers, unbelievable scenery, and exotic creatures we encountered.
Going to Las Caletas was quite an adventure. We found ourselves on a penisula where there are no roads leading to this location. Boats were the only transportation methods to this venue. After disembarking the boat, we were welcomed by a group of actors dressed as natives wearing body paint (which made me a little uneasy). We watched a show then were directed to our table where we ate dinner by candlelight (very romantic). Following dinner, we walked around the grounds then boarded our boat to go back to reality. Nick was feeling great on the way back and decided to join in singing and dancing YMCA at the front of the boat. I was so proud. :)
The next day we woke up to rain and decided to take a trip into town. Nick began to feel the effects of many Mexican meals and the aftermath of the rocking of the boat. Mexican food is great, however, eating it for every meal may not be the best choice. He recovered quickly.
The pirate ship was our last excursion and we loved it. Nick was chosen to participate in the male show they put on, and I was reluctantly chosen to participate in the female show. Exotic dancing and singing in Spanish with a huge piece of ice in my mouth provided entertainment to the whole crowd. Needless to say I did not end up as the winner.
As our trip ended, we dragged our feet to the airport for a 45 minute delay, then another 1 hour delay in Dallas. We had to begin our new life here in Chicago as a married couple. Now it's back to the grind of working and setting our apartment up for 2.
We will periodically update you on the exciting adventures of married life!
